Giveaway Time

Blogger bumper stickerphoto from we heart it

Hello old friends.

Anyone watch the Oscars last night? I’m a sucker for these award shows. I was beyond excited to see the Billy Crystal-like opening. (And the actual Billy Crystal. Double score.) When he put himself in each of the Best Picture–nominated films I would crack up. I thought Anne Hathaway and James Franco did a great job with that.

(Also, how awesome was that fake compilation of musicals?)

In the spirit of winnings, I thought today would be a good day for a giveaway. Yippee.

When Build A Sign contacted me, I wondered about its usefulness. I mean, I’m at least a year a way from running for public office. Also, I don’t do the marathon thing, so race day posters were out.

But then I saw the bumper stickers*. I’m {not} Superhuman bumper stickers? Um, heck yeah.

So I created this:

NS Bumper Sticker

And the company sent me a bunch of square bumper stickers. And I’m giving some away.

But, wait, there’s more! You can also win…

A new car! Just kidding. You can win a poster I made at Build A Sign. I don’t have an image for that, but I promise it’s purty. Plus, the words I’m Not Superhuman are found nowhere on it.

How do you win? It costs one comment. Tell me, if you could put anything on your own bumper sticker, what would it say? (Humor appreciated.)

What fun! I think my bumper sticker or personalized license plates would say MVURAZ. Because I’m classy like that.

I thought Anne and James did really well! But to be fair, I guess I was part of that “younger demographic” they were trying to reach. We’ll see how everyone else felt about it…

I’m still trying to design my own bumper sticker… I’ll let you know as soon as I figure it out! lol

Tracey Reply:

Yeah, I guess I am, too. Still, my Oscar host standards are very high since I’m of the opinion no one can host better than Billy Crystal. And these two came the closest since he retired from hosting.

The fake musical was hilarious! I thought Anne did a great job hosting, but James was lacking for me. Thankfully, he’s hot enough I got over it real quick.
My bumper sticker would say…stop following me!

Tracey Reply:

He did seem a bit out of it at parts. But I’m not sure he’s ever animated.

I think maybe I’m out of the main celebrity circle (ok, I most definitely am) but when did Christian Bale gain a weird accent? Apparently he is not American…and probably never has been? I’m so confused!

“Save a horse, ride a cowboy.”

But I just went to the buildasign.com website and I LOVE these ones: “I had a life but my job ate it.” and “Come to the Darkside. We have cookies.”

Tracey Reply:

Christian Bale does a great American accent so I see how you thought he was American. I’m surprised how well he did a Boston accent, too. I guess those things shock me since I can’t imagine having not only a great British accent but a great [insert specific type of British accent here].

Oh, and I love those too. So funny!

I actually enjoyed the Oscars this year. I thought Franco and Hathaway did a great job. And I couldn’t be more pleased about the best film recepient. :)

I saw a funny one that said “Quityerbitchin” Think I’d have to roll with that one…lol

Tracey Reply:

Ha ha ha. I like that one!

I would probably put, “just because I look normal, doesn’t mean I am…don’t yell at me for ’stealing’ a handicap placard!”…haha, that is not very coherent but something like that. ;)

[Reply]

Tracey Reply:

Ugh, boy do I get that one. People always look at me like I’m faking when I need a wheelchair in the airport. I’m not brave enough to take a handicap parking spot even though I need it. I fear the (unnecessary) judgment.

I thought the Oscars were okay but I liked the references to old hosts.

If I could create my own bumper sticker it would say…

If you can read this I just tapped my breaks.
(I live in Massachusetts so this is necessary)
or

You have to be a wee bit crazy to be normal…I’m REALLY normal.
(my mom always told me this was and old Welsh phrase and fits me perfectly)

[Reply]

Tracey Reply:

Having grown up in MA I totally get that one. (Of course–don’t hate me–I’m usually the one riding the other person’s bumper.)

Oh this is so fun! I’d rather not win a car anyway, thanks, but I thin your bumper sticker would look cute on my bike basket, which, coincidentally holds exactly 6 bottles of wine. I know this because we bike around on sunny weekends to nearby wineries and stock up. Our friends call it the “Tour de Frap” because we always stop halfway for frappucinos.

Anyway, my sticker would also be on my bike basket and could say something like:

“Don’t laugh at me. I hold 6 bottles of wine.”

[Reply]

Tracey Reply:

That is an awesome idea! That sounds like so much fun!

My DVR is awaiting me to watch…can’t wait!!

Humor, hmm. I don’t know. I am a fan of the “26.2″ bumper stickers, personally.

Tracey Reply:

You’re good, waiting till today. I thought about DVRing it so I could go to bed, but I just needed to see Best Picture. And of course that’s at 11:30.

I think mine would have to be “Gum Addict”. It’s not very clever, but it’s the ugly truth.

[Reply]

Tracey Reply:

I’m a former gum addict. When I quit I was up to a pack a day. (Yes, it does sound like I’m talking about cigarettes.)

“CU L8R”

best I can muster today…grandmother’s old vanity plate (on a super big gold boat…erm, I mean cadillac). You should have seen that 87 year old stomp on those pedals.

Tracey Reply:

Oh my goodness, that’s great. I love the fact that she was driving a boat with that sticker. And that she actually drove fast. Awesome!

And as far as a bumper sticker, I think I’d go with:

Alaska is seriously the land of dumb vanity plates, so I’ve seen some good ones but I can’t think of anything cute or witty that I would want to put on my car, along with my “Girls fish too” sticker. Hmm… I’ll get back to you. :) Wondering what the good ones have been? My favorite: CUGRB8. I laughed for hours.

[Reply]

Tracey Reply:

So is Virginia!! The Man and I always point them out because everyone has them. I always wonder if you get a discount at the DMV for having a vanity plate.

(OK, and I’m so not telling you how long it took me to figure out what CUGRB8 meant. Shameful.)

I’d have to put something in regards to my two biggest driving peeves..
“USE your directional signals” or “LEFT lane is for passing”

You just got yourself a new follower! :)

[Reply]

Tracey Reply:

YES! I hate when people don’t use their signal. The Man does, too, because then I complain about how the signals were created for a reason. Ever notice how the ones who do it are always cutting someone off?

And double yes about the left lane. People riding it at 65 make me go nutso.

(Thanks for the follow!)

My bumper sticker would probably be something library-related (my profession). Like, “librarians do it by the book” or “cataloguers do it with authority control.”

[Reply]

Tracey Reply:

I love librarians! My favorites are “End Ignorance: Read a Book” and “I Read Banned Books.” But my real favorite is “The Worst Part of Censorship is XXXXX.”

Also, these are great. :)

I live in DC, where traffic is OUT OF CONTROL. Mine would say: If I had run, I’d already be there.

[Reply]

Tracey Reply:

I live in the DC area, too and you’re so right! Though I think a more appropriate saying would be: If I had walked, I’d already be there. I’m pretty sure that’s true 97 percent of the time.

I’m a teacher and think it would do something with that. I will admit I just did a little googling on teacher bumper stickers and found one that says, “I teach for a living, what’s your superpower?” Also, found one that says, “Don’t make me use my teacher voice!” Soooo true. Love it!

[Reply]

Tracey Reply:

I love those. But if I were a teacher I think mine would say, “I’m a teacher. Pour me another drink.”*

*I did not say I’d be a good teacher. :)
