This Is Your Brain On Drugs*
Well, well, well. It appears none of my readers want to pack up their life, move to D.C. and be my chef. Pro bono.
Hm.
So, I blame you for this:

Yes, that’s dinner. It’s a Five Guys burger and fries.
Yes, it tastes just as good as it looks. And if you’re a vegetarian, it tastes better than it looks.
The reason for the indulgence? I’m out of it today. Totally off. Dizzy. And The Man vetoed sushi. (Burgers are a natural replacement, right?)
I started a new medication today with hopes of numbing some of the pain from my EM. See, I talk about my burning feet but I never go into detail.
Imagine having your feet and hands doused in gasoline. Now someone lights you on fire. You’re burning alive but another jerk comes along and decides that, while you’re burning, he’s going to stab you. So he takes knitting needles and stabs your feet and hands through the fire.
That, dear readers, is EM.
So you can understand, I’m sure, why I’m on the search for the perfect pain med. All I want for Christmas is a full night’s sleep. Yes.
And Lyrica? Well, so far it’s making me a bit loopy. My legs feel heavy and lighter than air at the same time. My head’s foggy. I’m a bit dizzy.
I’m hoping this side effect goes away soon or I’ll have to attempt pain relief with something else.
Because man cannot live on hamburgers alone. Even if they’re delicious.
What’s your go-to lazy takeout meal?
*And someone tell me I’m not the only old person who remembers those drug commercials featuring a fried egg as a metaphor for gray material.

Unfortunately, I am old enough to quite clearly remember those commercials. Also, love, love, love 5 Guys and after living in VA we were so excited to see one finally open here in CO.
Sorry about the EM and the med stuff. Having tried many pain meds myself, I am convinced there is no good option and whenever I am in pain, I am left trying to decide if the pain is bad enough that I am willing to be dizzy, loopy, constipated and whatever other side effect comes from the meds. Not exactly the world’s most fun choices.

Exactly. I said that to The Man last night. So, I guess we’ll see what’s worse: burning or feeling like I’m drunk. I have an idea what I’ll pick…

Ahhh, Tracey, this pain you’re in really makes me sad. I’m so very sorry that you have to deal with a near-constant burning/stabbing sensation. That’s just terrible.
I do think Five Guys is a pretty fantastic solution to at least some of the problem though. Wise move, sister

I think Five Guys is a fantastic solution to most of life’s problems. Aside from obesity, that is.

I don’t actually have a lazy takeout meal, the reason being that I’m too lazy to go out for food and too impatient for the wait. But my go-to lazy meal is popcorn! I like feasting on popcorn
Boo to drug side effects

I love popcorn. And now that I make my own, I love it even more. Sadly, even that was too much work last night. Ha ha.

I often go for pizza for lazy takeout. I am a fan of cheese. Sometimes I get sushi to go as well. Or Quizno’s (usually the turkey sub). Greek can be good in terms of a quality salad.

I’m a pizza girl, too. The Man, on the other hand, is all about beef.

Heather- I’m old enough to remember those commercials too sigh.
Tracey- I’m so sorry that you are in this kind of pain. I hope that you can find a great med and in the mean time, enjoy the loopiness if you can
And of course burgers are the second runner up to sushi. As is chicken fried steak to seitan strips. duh!
Hugs to you girl!

You know, I think I can get used to the loopiness. As long as I don’t have to work, open my eyes, or be coherent I think I’ll really enjoy it!

Can you believe in the 5 years I’ve lived in DC I’ve never had Five Guys?! Its like not eating In-n-Out when I’m on the West Coast

You must. I never, ever eat fast food, but Five Guys is an exception. It’s so good.

Girl, I feel for ya. I have no idea the amount of pain you are in, but it sounds horrendous!
My go to take-out meal is usually chinese. We just got a Five Guys and I ‘ve yet to try it.

Definitely try it. I was skeptical, but it really is an awesome burger.

I do Jason’s Deli. Chicken Sante Fe sandwich. Bam.
My only sadness is that it doesn’t come with fries. Sigh…
I really am hoping they figure out something to help with the burning soon. A good night’s sleep isn’t really a lot to ask for. Or at least it shouldn’t be…

I wish there was a Jason’s Deli closer to me. I love the salad bar there.

HAA, I love you. And I love those fries just a bit more ->Yes, it tastes just as good as it looks. And if you’re a vegetarian, it tastes better than it looks.
If it’s late enough and everyone is too drank to notice, Taco Bell Crunchwrap. Don’t judge, those layers are pure awesomeness at 3 am.

You sound like The Man with that Taco Bell line.

I am so sorry you have to deal with this horrible pain! That totally sucks. I wish I had some magic potion I could send you but I don’t. In the meantime I recommend lots of burgers, chocolate, and maybe even a Coke here and there. Those things usually make me feel better!!

Definitely chocolate. Most definitely.

I’m sorry that the drugs have you feeling down. There’s really no nastier feeling because what are you meant to do about it, really?
My go-to comfort food involves cheese. After that, any culture is fine as long as we’ve gotten the ball rolling.

GREAT choice. I’m not a even a huge fan of burgers, but my first Five Guys meal was pretty much life-changing.

I’m so sorry that you are in pain. When we need a meal to go – it’s Chick-fil-A. But it honestly only happens once or twice a year because of the cost involved!

move here.
to our domicile.
we reference that commercial a million times a day.

Oh man, that looks awesome! My parents town has a Five Guys and everyone RAVES about it! I’ve been wanting to try it
I usually do Subway or sushi for super quick dinners, or Chinese if I’m misbehaving

I remember those commercials.
The side effects with Lyrica should pass! Hang in there! I feel like a medical test trial a lot too. About to start some new ones myself.
