All Because I Felt Like Pasta
Because I felt like Italian, I took this:

And added this:

I didn’t consider the fact that the ravioli was loaded with garlic.
So The Man ate this:

Because garlic gives me a stomach ache, I ate this:

And I realized this is the best pasta sauce ever. (OK, the best simple pasta sauce for people who don’t want to reek of garlic post-meal.)
Strained tomatoes.
A teensy bit of butter.
Salt.
Pepper.
Top with fresh basil.
And Parmesan.
Because I’m on vacation, I took this:

And this:

And dug in.

What’s your foolproof pasta sauce recipe?

My favourite pasta sauce is always a simple marinara – no, I don’t even like bolognese. Yeah. I’m weird.

Wow, that does sound like an easy tomato sauce. When I’m looking for something really quick for pasta, I drizzle on top toasted sesame oil, tahini, and salt and pepper.

I dont mind a bit of garlic so I usually throw that into your mix. I have yet to find a jar version of pasta sauce that I really like…

We take pre-made pasta sauce (there are only a couple of brands I use – ones that contain olive oil as their only type of oil), saute some garlic and spices with the sauce, and let it simmer for a while. It takes the store-bought sauce to the next level. Extra delicious with basil!!

Pasta sauce is one thing I don’t do from scratch… So um… mine would be TJ’s basil tomato sauce with a sprinkle of garlic powder (yeah, I love that stuff), parsley, and red onion sauteed and thrown in. Pretty simple. Granted, you clearly can’t do garlic and I’m pretty sure you hate onions.
If you ever came to visit me, I would never cook italian for you.

Yep, no onions too. Can you believe I’m Italian? I KNOW.
Also, if I came to visit you I’d want to make those toffee cookies you have on your blog today.

If I have time, I love to make my own sauce. I use to never make it, but then I found out how delicious the from scratch stuff is

Anything by Whole Foods is amazing in a pinch. Our proper sauce literally takes all day to cook.

My Italian mother would kill me for saying this but I don’t ever make pasta sauce!

That’s OK. If any Italian is getting banned from Italianhood, it’s me. What Italian can’t eat garlic!?!

My foolproof pasta sauce recipe is to open a jar of TJ’s pizza sauce. I swear it is better than any of their pasta sauces!
And doesn’t butter make everything better?

I really love Rao’s jarred sauce and try to buy it when it’s on sale because otherwise it is so $$$. My husband also makes great homemade sauce, so we always have that in the freezer. We defrost some for quick weeknight pasta dishes.

Chopped (Pomi is my favorite) tomatoes, garlic, bay leaves, oregano, salt and pepper! Fool proof and delicious.
Still haven’t found a store bought jar I like ever. In the end, making it homemade really doesn’t require much effort and it ends up being cheaper!

Sometimes simple sauces are the best. I have two favorites – basic fresh marinara sauce with lots of basil and garlic (sorry) and my turkey bolognese sauce. Yum!

So funny you posted caramel drizzled apples…I have been craving those ever since Giada made caramel apples on her show last weekend. YUM! I have to do that this weekend….
The pasta looks awesome, too! I like plain sauces! …but avec garlic

Sauce really is kind of hard to screw up isn’t it? When I’m in a hurry, I just toss a ton of veggies and spices in my high speed blender, heat, and serve! Works like a champ!
