life: super powers not included

So Glad That’s Not Me

Veronica Marsphoto by cristal filgueiras bittencourt

You know those people who get so sucked into a TV show that they stay up really late watching it and then feel exhausted the next day and are super grumpy? Losers.

I’m so glad I didn’t get hooked on Veronica Mars, which happens to be on Netflix’s Watch Instantly list, which also happens to be free for Netflix members. So glad that’s not me.

Because that would be embarrassing. I mean, that show was cancelled in 2006.

(I know this because, incidentally, I used to love the show and thought it was one of the most well-written teen shows at the time and cried My So Called Life kind of tears when it was ended.)

But, yeah, they’d be total losers.

They’d be especially pathetic if they were looking forward to the weekend solely because they wanted to finish season two. As if there’s nothing else going on that weekend! I bet they make excuses for their laziness by doing laundry during the show so they can pretend they did something meaningful on their days off.

I bet people like that stayed up to all hours of the night watching series like 24 or Prison Break. I bet they look like zombies by morning, dark circles ringing their eyes. Serves them right.

Yup, I’m glad that’s not me.

What are you so not doing this weekend? Wink, wink.

Not going to lie, I loved Veronica Mars. I distinctly remember watching it during high school. My boyfriend might have instant qued Laguna Beach. That should make you feel better about your TV decisions.

I have never watched that show, but give me a Real Housewives of any city marathon and I’m hooked! I love other peoples drama!

I can’t take that show. Too much cattiness or petty fights for me!

I am like that with the show Felicity. I loved that show and bought all 4 seasons on DVD. Ican definitely have Felicity marathons on the weekend.

Tracey Reply:

I loved Felicity, but I watched that in real time, not on DVD.

I met Kristen Bell, precious little thing. Are you sure you haven’t also been watching repeats of Buffy, shhh you can tell me.

This weekend I am not watching Veronica Mars.

Tracey Reply:

No Buffy. But I’m not going to lie–it’s in my queue.

ha ha ha… Veronica Mars- that was a good one. I’m so glad I was never like that with any shows- like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. THAT would have been embarrassing…

Tracey Reply:

Not that you care or anything, but Buffy is on Watch Instantly, too. I mean, in case that friend of yours wants to watch it again…

Hah! I have heard so many good things about that show, I might have to stream it from Netflix to check it out.

I am totally not going to blow off doing yardwork. And even if I was going to use the triple digit temps as an excuse to lounge around reading and eating ice cream (which of course I wouldn’t!), it would be to read sophisticated literature or enlightening non-fiction, not trashy chick lit . Totally.

I love 24 and Prison Break! I’m having people over to swim this weekend, going to a going away party for me (tear) with hockey teammates, and then packing up and heading out!

I loved the first and second season of Prison Break, but when they headed off to Panama things got a little too gruesome for me. I was in love with Michael Schofield (sp?) but then I recently saw him in Star Tracks and he’d gained a ton of weight and let his hair grow out. He isn’t too attractive anymore!!

Tracey Reply:

Yeah, it went down hill when he had to break out of that crazy prison. The last season was a big disappointment.

Never got into Veronica Mars….

But….

If someone gave me the boxed set of Gilmore Girls I wouldn’t complain ;)

Tracey Reply:

I love the Gilmore Girls, but The Man hates it. He especially hates how fast they talk, which is sacrilegious, I know.

I hate when I get sucked into TV shows. The Bachelore or Bachelorette get me every stinking time.

I’ve never seen Veronica Mars, but I’ve definitely been obsessed with Prison Break and 24 at one time or another. They were very addictive. I definitely belonged to the loser club! Staying up til all hours watching DVDs…especially with those shows because they tend to end in a cliffhanger, and how can anyone just stop watching after a cliffhanger?

This post cracked me up. I watched a whole season of Criminal Minds with my bf one night. And he also bought me all of the seasons of Gilmore Girls for my bday a couple years ago.

Tracey Reply:

I love Criminal Minds. I was super sick this one time and could do nothing but lie in bed while willing my fever down. Anyhow, there was a Criminal Minds marathon on and I think I watched 20 episodes that weekend. I was over it when Gideon left.

Mmm tv shows. That’s why I don’t own a tv. Zero temptation!

(I use my boyfriend’s tv set instead. Hehe).

OMG. I am SO incredibly relieved that I am not the only one that got …erm… I mean DIDN’T get into Veronica Mars.

I’d talk about how Kristen Bell started her career with that show (as far as I knew) and everyone would turn their heads to the side and look at me like curious puppies.

Aw now I miss the show and I’m kicking myself for not buying season 1&2 for ten bucks when I saw it. Boo for that.
