And breathe…

What a day. As you can tell—hello 9:30 p.m. post—it’s been a crazy day. Since I’m running on empty (and ready a clinical study right now sounds about as fun as poking my eye with toothpicks) I’ve decided to give you the speed reader version of my day. I promise I’ll be back to regularly scheduled programming tomorrow, so in the mean time I hope you enjoy. And when I say that, I mean I hope you’re not wildly disappointed with me.
Without further ado, here are seven things you should know about me:
1. I still have a case of the Mondays. And it’s Tuesday. It all started yesterday when the fluctuating temperatures set off a massive headache. I felt it in my eyes some time around lunchtime and didn’t get rid of it until I fell asleep.
2. A week ago, I was the only blogger in all of the Internet that had never tried almond butter. I’m sure of it. But thanks to a giant jar from Costco I’ve not only tried it but I’ve also become addicted. I’ve yet to try it in every single meal (what do you expect, it’s only been a week!) but I’m working my way up. Your recipe suggestions are welcome. Hint. Hint.
3. I’m a biking machine. I’ve been ridiculously focused while biking lately. No TV. No distractions. I just slide in my earplugs, focus on my legs’ motion, and try to keep the pace as high as I can. What do you all do on the bike, treadmill, or elliptical—read, watch TV, or focus on your movement?
4. I’m a huge Taylor Swift fan. This was news to me, but Taylor has gotten me through many a workout lately. And, by the way, she’s my hair role model. If only I could be blonde. Oh, and gain about 80 percent more hair. Yup, then I’d be set.
5. I’m pretty obsessed with my teeth. Ever since I attended a scientific presentation on gingivitis, I’ve been fanatical about flossing daily. Well, yesterday I added a new step to my teeth-cleaning routine. I tried Crest Weekly Clean Intensive Cleaning Paste. The paste is similar to the stuff your dentist uses, and let me tell you: The granules really polish teeth. You use it once a week (duh) to keep teeth clean and white. I’m not sure whether it whitens, but I did feel like my teeth were fresh-from-the-dentist clean.
6. I spent the weekend with super tight muscles—who knows why—but after this evening’s workout I was limber like a ballerina. Or yogi. Or a child. (They’re bendy in all sorts of ways.) After a tough hamstring exercise a long head-to-knees stretch felt awe-some.
7. And the knees… Yeah, there’s still there, which is a good thing. They’ve been getting hot and red more often. Not so good. But I’m pushing them harder on the bike so my leg muscles are growing. Good. Keep those fingers crossed, folks.
Whew, breathe. So, how’s your day going? Am I the only one feeling like this week’s a bit crazy?

Actually this week is less stressful for me than the last three-but I am so happy that you discovered almond butter, and are kicking butt on the bike! Lately I’ve been walking on the treadmill for 45-60 minutes because it affords me the attention span to read 5,000 word profiles in the NYer. Hope to see you in Philly soon
. Oh, and your blog is so mobile-friendly–loving it. Doing this all from my company-issued BlackBerry. Nite, Trace!

Sarah, I’m impressed you can read New Yorker articles while on the treadmill. I think my eyesight is too bad for that. I’m happy you’re able to catch up on the blog on the road!

My “monday” was actually on a Monday this week…don’t. get. me. started!
Oh, and almond butter belongs wherever you’d put the peanut variety! EVERYWHERE!

I had PLANS for Monday…to get on my bike and go for a ride(outside) but…with the very heavy, sideways rain… biking did not happen and I was totally bummed!
P.S. I’ve never tried almond butter either! The price of it in our grocery store is close to a kazillion dollars!!

Nikki–I bought my first jar from Costco and it’s was a pretty good deal. I can’t remember exactly how much it was, but the jar is giant (naturally) and definitely cheaper than what you’d pay for a normal-size jar at the grocery store or Whole Foods. Cost is part of the reason I had been holding out! Thanks for stopping by!

p.s.s Hope you have a good rest of the week!

I have never actually cooked with almond butter … but maybe I should. My recipe? Open jar, insert spoon. Yum.

Joy, that shocks me. Well, the first thing I did was taste a spoonful. Mmm. I also put it on toast, subbed it for peanut butter in a pb&j, and put it in oatmeal. Today: on top of whole wheat waffles with jam.

Gelareh–I never watch my heart rate, but I know it’s such an important part of determining how hard you’re working. It’s another point on my Must Try This list.

What an interesting post about you! I love learning new things about other bloggers. Can I be honest…I am not a fan of almond butter. Yes, I said it. I don’t know why but I just like peanut butter so much more!!
Have a great Wednesday!

Ameena, at least you don’t hate onions like I do. People look at you like you have seven heads.

I liked your list! What a fun read you are!!
I think it is funny that you are obsessed with your teeth. So is my husband. I swear the man flosses like 10 times a day and brushes after every meal! I (gulp) and terrible about flossing and only brush the required twice a day (once in the morning and before bed) yet I am the one who never has cavaties while the husband gets them all the time! KNOCK ON WOOD! Okay…this was way too much information huh?

Kelly, funny thing is that I also get a ton of cavities. (And The Man, who only flosses the day before a dentist appointment, never gets them. Not fair.) Some dentist told me that I just have really deep teeth. Who knows. But I do my best to prevent any more!

Mallory, thanks for visiting! I’m glad to hear there are some other people who haven’t joined the almond butter movement yet!
